Keeping children active and healthy in the summer

Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner

UP Health Systems – Marquette Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner Teri Reevs delivers advice on how to keep your kids active in the summer.

As the school year comes to a close, it’s important for parents to look for ways to keep their children active in the summer.

Summer is a great time to get out with your kids and enjoy the beauty our area has to offer. I encourage you to find new trails to bike, hike, rollerblade or go for a walk. Enjoy these long evenings with your kids, learning a new sport or simply enjoying the outdoors.

With the sun gracing our skies, remember to protect your skin with shade, clothing, or sunblocks. With all the options in sunscreens, might I suggest those with Titanium Oxide, and/or Zinc Oxide as the active ingredients. The simpler the better. You can find more details and options on brands at the Environmental Working Group’s website EWG.org.

I hope you all have a healthy and safe summer.
