MARQUETTE — UP Health System — Marquette is pleased to welcome Ryan Dick-Perez, DO, to the Emergency Medicine staff.
“I hope to become active in both the emergency room and the ICO to better serve people of the UP and improve care,” Dr. Dick-Perez said. “With originally being from Alaska, I was looking for a location with lots of snow, small communities and tons of outdoor recreation.”
Dr. Dick-Perez joins an Emergency Medicine staff that has the only Level II Trauma Center in the UP. This achievement recognizes the hospital’s dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients. This verification is renewed every three years, and verified trauma centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and institutional performance, outlined by the American College of Surgeons’ Committee on Trauma in its current Resources for Optimal Care of the Injured Patient manual.
Dr. Dick-Perez completed his undergraduate degree at Idaho State University with a major in Chemistry. He went on to attend Des Moines University College of
Osteopathic Medicine and did his three-year Emergency Medicine Residency at Summa Health Systems Akron City Hospital. Dr. Dick-Perez also completed his fellowship in Anesthesia Critical Care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
At his fellowship, he would lead a team of 3-4 clinicians made up of residents, advanced practice providers and medical students providing emergency medicine care, in addition to overseeing a team of fellows, residents, advanced practice providers and medical students providing intensivist care for the unit.
