Celebrating Occupational Therapy Month

Your life is made up of occupation-meaningful everyday activities. These occupations can include many roles, such as being a parent, a friend, a spouse, a tennis player, an artist, a cook, or a musician. We generally do not think about her daily occupations until we have trouble doing them.  Everyone has occupations-from the toddler whose occupations are play and learning to develop important skills, to the older adult whose occupations are engaging with family and friends and managing his or her home. If you are recovering from an accident or injury, your valued occupations may be disrupted.  Occupational therapy incorporates your valued occupations into the rehabilitation process.

Here at UPHS – Bell, we have three highly-skilled Occupational Therapists.  We work with our patients to achieve their goals in therapy that bring meaning back to their life. Treatment is customized to each and every patient, to best suit their needs to achieve their goals and bring meaning to their life. We might work with PTs on bathing & dressing after undergoing a total hip replacement, to stretching and strengthening exercises following a wrist fracture.  Working with children on developmental skills/milestones or controlling chronic or lymphedema, highlights some of the areas of treatments that our OT’s here treat.
