UPHS – Bell Employee Spotlight: Phyllis Palmer

What is your title with UPHS-Bell?

Health Information Clerk

What drew you to Bell?

I spent a few months in Medical Records as a temp through Manpower.  I really liked it, so when an opening came up, I was excited to be hired for a full-time position.

What is a typical day for you?

Answering phones, processing birth certificates, handling public requests at the window, processing outpatient charts, scanning & indexing those charts into the electronic medical records.

People would be surprised if they knew:

I lived in Gallup, New Mexico for six years. During that time I was employed with the Gallup McKinley County School District as a substitute teacher for one year and five years as an administrative assistant in their special education department. The school district is the largest in that state, covering 4,857 square miles.

Tell us about your family.

My husband Dave and I have been married for 14 years.  I have three children, six stepchildren, five grandchildren and 16 step-grandchildren.

Name something on your bucket list.

To purchase a motorhome when I retire & tour the states that I haven’t been to.

What aspect of your role do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy most of what I do in my job.  We have an awesome group of employees here at Bell & every day is a great day working with everyone especially my coworkers in Medical Records.
