UPHS – Bell Heroes | Renee Slone, Medicare Biller

What is your title and role at UPHS – Bell? Medicare Biller – Getting claim out and all the follow-up.

How long have you been employed here? Have you always been in the same position? I have been at Bell Memorial for 20 years. I started here June of 2000 in housekeeping for a few years, then moved to Transporter/Aide, and then came to the business office in 2005 and been doing the Medicare billing since then.

What does a typical day look like for you? Getting claims out with the follow-up, working with departments and physicians, phone calls, and meeting with patients.

Tell us a little bit about your family: I have been married to my husband Randy for 27 years. I have 2 children, Veronica (30), and Derek (26), along with 3 grandchildren, Serenity (6), Bentley (5), and Braxton (2), who seem to keep me pretty busy from time to time.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? I love enjoying the outdoors on warm days and can be doing just about anything, enjoying time with family and friends.

What is your favorite vacation spot? Anywhere warm. By the water is even better.

What is your favorite part about working for UPHS – Bell? I love working with the people here and the public. I certainly have a soft spot for the elderly. When I call or meet with them, they certainly have their own story to tell and maybe just need to chat for a bit.
